If you’ve ever been fortunate enough to interact with Jenni Holmstead, general manager of Got Beauty, you already know that she is our own personal one-woman army, with an array of knowledge that impresses even old time industry experts. Beauty obstacles beware...you can't baffle this woman!
Jenni always handles herself in the most helpful, friendly, and stunningly articulate manner humanly possible, all while keeping the best interest and well-being of our customers her first priority. One of her biggest passions, along with making Got Beauty an even more beautiful place, is finding all-natural products for the store that not only make you look beautiful, but FEEL beautiful. For this week’s Real World Beauty blog, she’s compiled a list of her favorites that keep her feeling au naturale!
You've been at Got Beauty for 8 years. Tell us how you got the job.
I walked into our old location on 700 east and 2100 south, and the owner, Tammy, said, "You're cute! Do you want a job?" The rest is history!
What's the strangest beauty question you've ever been asked?
There are no strange questions when it comes to beauty.
So you wake up at the crack of dawn, how do you keep yourself looking perpetually so fresh and put together?
I'm not so sure I am always looking fresh and put together, but I'm certainly glad you think so! Washing my face and using a great night time moisturizer (Glymed's Intense Peptide Recovery Complex) prior to bed makes a really big difference in how my skin looks the next morning. I also cheat quite a bit with my hair routine. I wash my hair at night, then add my styling product, which is usually Marrakesh Oil and the Awapuhi Wild Ginger Hydrocream Whip. That way, when I wake up, my hair has some good mess and body to it. Then I generally just curl the top pieces with either a 1" or 1 1/4" curling iron. Side note: investing in a great curling iron will save you a lot of frustration. In my opinion, the Hot Tools Gold Series Curling Irons are the best!
Who was your childhood crush?
Leonardo DiCaprio...yes, I was coming of age when Titanic came out.
What superpower would you most like to have?
To see the future!
Tell us about your best friend.
My bestie is probably the most awesome person I know. She is an inspiration to me in so many ways. She is smart, driven, loyal, and incredibly insightful (I could go on and on). She is a once in a lifetime best friend. Lucky us :)
What do you look for in natural products and which 3 are your current faves?
There are a lot of products that I use that don't fall into the "natural" segment (because they are just too awesome not to use). However, I always love when products have ingredients I can pronounce and easily identify without a chemical dictionary, products that actually do what they say they are going to do, and a great company to back them up. My three favorite natural products right now are the Marrakesh Oil High Tide, Pacifica Roll On Perfume in Coconut Nectar, and Butter London's Yummy Mummy.
What is your dream vacation?
Alaska, the last frontier.
What fashion trend do you wish didn't exist?
Reeeeeally insanely short shorts with pockets hanging out of the bottom.
What was your secret hiding place as a kid?
Under the stairs where all my Barbies lived.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Oreo caramel apples from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Oh goodness!
What is your most treasured possession?
My grandma had a blanket that I always loved to cuddle up with when I slept over at their house. It is white with green flowers and looks like the dress Scarlett O'Hara wears in the opening scene of 'Gone With The Wind'. She left it to me when she passed away, and it still makes my heart swell when I see it spread out on my bed.
What is the best advice you've ever received?
My very sweet boyfriend told me that I need to let go of things that are out of my control. Sounds easy, right?
What inspires you?
Boss Lady, Tammy T. Truly, and her passion for making women feel beautiful inside and out.
