It’s no secret that sun protection is of the utmost importance in the prevention of aging and skin damage. For those of us who struggle with other skin woes to boot, finding the right product can be a little trickier. If you’re someone who deals with blemishes and sensitive skin maintenance on a regular basis, no doubt you've had questions about what's safe to put on acne prone skin in the summertime. Don’t fret! Your favorite skincare brands have not forgotten about your troubles. We have a few top favs in this department, which means a healthy abundance of sunny day activities in your future.
What we love about this product so much is that it’s all physical – physical sunscreen, that is! The reason why this rocks is that chemical sunscreens are known to cause irritation to even normal skin (which means major bad news for sensitive skinned babes). It’s completely formulated without parabens, sulfates, phthalates, fragrances, essential oils, gluten, colorants, OR cruelty to any animal (*phew*). In fact, Drunk Elephant prides itself on creating products that only benefit skin health: raspberry seed oil (nature’s most powerful sunscreen), marula oil (provides intense moisture and healing), and sunflower shoot extract (promotes skin elasticity).
We love this sunscreen particularly for its ability to soothe and protect sensitized, reactive and recently resurfaced skin. It’s not entirely recommended that you go out in the sun if your skin is already agitated, but if it can’t be avoided, this little guy will likely prevent it from worsening or becoming dried out. You’ll want to put this over any new scars, around the eye area (not IN your eyes, obvi), and anywhere experiencing inflammation or redness – trust us.
This powder is probably the best you could do for your skin as far as summertime makeup. Not only is it known to actually aid in the treatment of acne, but it simultaneously provides sun protection and is water resistant for up to 40 minutes. You may also be pleased to know that it’s 100% cruelty and gluten free, as well as vegan. Every sensitive skinned beauty has raved that this is truly the best and most gentle foundation you can get, and we stand by that statement 100%.
