Girlfriend, we know how busy you are. We know how much time it takes to get your hair looking as good as it does.
The first thing I always like to make clear when talking about makeup, is that when you chose to wear it, it should be for you. Not anyone else. I love it, because it tells the story of who I want to be on any given day. It’s artistry. I’ve always been creatively inclined, and I’ve seen myself as a canvas when it came to self-expression through clothing, hair, and makeup. Over the years I’ve created and perfected my go-to look. It may be a bit on the glam side for some, but I’ve always had a penchant for being a little extra. I think of my signature look as pin-up meets old Hollywood movie star, so if you’re into that kind of thing, here’s exactly what I am using to get it!

As 2018 comes to an end, thoughts of our most and least favorites drift through our heads in a steady reflection of the past 12 months. When it comes to beauty products, the memories are many and at the same time so subtle; after all, it's easy to forget your favorite hairspray behind that AMAZING hairdo you had at your best friend's wedding, or the mascara you wear each day that makes your eyes really pop. There were a few that stood out to us that we felt were worthy of a mention - especially since some folks are in need of a recommendation or two. In our humble opinion, here are the best beauty products from 2018 that made the cut (and what we think will be sticking around for a while).
About two years ago, I decided to take the dive and do an icy silver pixie cut. I loved it, truly. But I am constantly trying to change up my style, and unfortunately with hair, its not so easy to bounce back and forth from 12 inches of long locks, to 2" messy spikes and a completely shaved undercut. (unless you've got some extra cash flow for hair extensions). With my recent move to Salt Lake City 6 months ago, I decided it was time to finally commit to growing my hair back. I would endure the awkward mullet, the baby 1" point tail, half of my head being uneven due to the undercut, the whole journey of growing a pixie, in my opinion, was NOT glamorous. Not to mention the breakage I had from damage that was preventing strength in my hair follicles. Cue my saviors: Sugarbear Hair Vitamins and Olaplex.
We've all heard it time and time again: "you must wear sunscreen everyday!" The beauty gods will harp on this until the cows come home, but the truth is, it's actually REALLY GOOD advice. A harsh reality is that 90% of all skin aging is caused by sun exposure. Sunscreen can be a pain, and the typically thick goopy stuff you've grown up with clogs your pores just by looking at it. But it's 2018 ladies (and gentleman) and the realm of sunscreen has become far more advanced than you're used to. Many cosmetics and CC creams have sunscreen built in, so there's no excuse to not protect the largest organ in our body that just so happens to be exposed to the sun every single day. If you're going to be wearing makeup anyway, why not go the extra preventative mile and cut down on aging from sun exposure while you're at it!
